1280 Church Road 1CAFD units responded to a structure fire at 1280 Church Road at 04:45 this morning.  Upon arrival crews found the home heavily involved with fire in the front quarter of the home with extension up and through the roof in the front of the home.  Suppression and water supply operations were established and a rapid knock down of the fire was made by interior crews.  Firefighters from Stations 1 & 3 rescued two members of the household from the fire during their search of the residence.  The occupants, a small white cat  and dog, where shaken up and suffering from minor smoke inhalation but their conditions rapidly improved with care from the CAFD staff.  Damage was extensive to the entryway, living room, kitchen, and one bedroom of the home.  One firefighter sustained minor injuries, and crews were on scene for approximately three hours.  The animals were warmed and cared for by CAFD staff and reunited with family and friends.

Units assigned to the fire included; Chief 1, Division Chief – Safety, Battalion 2, Engines 2, 22 & 31, Tankers 21 & 22, along with FDL PD and Carlton County Sheriff’s officers.  Battalion 3 and the District Fire Investigation Team remained on the scene into the day.  The cause of the fire remains under investigation at this time.
